Steam’s Remote Play Together leaves beta, coincides with sale

For the past few months Steam has been beta testing Remote Play Together, a new feature that allows local only multiplayer games to instead be played online. Now the feature has it’s 1.0 release and Steam has put on a sale to go with it.

As you may expect the sale focuses on games which use Remote Play Together, and are divided up into these categories:

  • 4+ Player Games
  • Puzzle co-op games
  • Campaign co-op games
  • Replayable co-op games
  • Versus games
  • LEGO Games

Cuphead, as you can see from the header image above, is used as something of a mascot for this event. While it does support the new feature, it is currently not dicsounted on Steam.

Some games that are included and we can recommend include Crawl (50% off), TowerFall Ascension (75% off) and Enter the Gungeon (50% off).

Those are just our favourite picks from the hundreds of games on sale, so we encourage you to click around until you find something you, or your second player, will like.

As for how Remote Play Together works, it’s decidedly simple. Launch a game that supports the feature, open up your friends list, and invite them to your game with the drop down option.

Not only can you chat to each other over Steam, but control over keyboard, mouse and controllers can be shared if that’s how the game dictates its multiplayer to work.

Full details can be found on the official page for it. Just a reminder here that Remote Play Together is an offshoot of Remote Play, the pseudo game streaming function in Steam that allows you to run your games on one machine and play them on another, including mobile devices.
