Workshop17 opens new site in Cape Town City Bowl

Co-working spaces have been around long before WeWork started grabbing headlines, and now local co-working office brand Workshop17 has recently opened a new location.

Located at 32 Kloof Street in the Cape Town City Bowl, the new location sports 30 offices (which can be modified), hot-desks, boardrooms, meeting rooms and two cafes spread across five floors.

This new location marks Workshop17’s success and its commitment to growing the local economy according to chief executive officer and co-founder Paul Keursten.

“The success of our brand has been driven by our passion to help build an inclusive ecosystem of exciting businesses and entrepreneurs that are working to shape a powerful, prosperous Africa,” the CEO said.

“We are driven to create a working environment and community that is inspiring and helps members to become the best they can be in their work. Each of our locations has its own personality and set up, attuned to the area and the building we are in. In this way we attract a variety of members and companies who can tap into a diverse community for networking, sharing and creating opportunities,” Keursten adds.

Workshop17 plans on opening two new locations in 2020. Both sites will be located in Rosebank, with one located at 144 Oxford and another at The Bank. The locations will open in May and July of 2020 respectively.

Formerly known as Open Workspaces, Workshop17’s first co-working space opened in 2012 in Maboneng, Johannesburg. With a majority-female staff complement of 49, the company’s seven sites host over 1 300 members and 400 companies and SMEs.
