Disney rolls out a trio of clips for The Rise of Skywalker

Last month we got the final trailer for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. To keep the hype train going between now and the release of the movie on 20th December, three clips for the film have been released recently.

A few hours ago we were gifted this quick 30 second clip. It’s not a new scene as it was briefly shown in the previous trailers, but it is a longer segment than before.

We can definitely see “they fly now” becoming a meme in the future when the movie is out, especially after something similar happened in the latest episode of The Mandalorian.

The longest of these three promotional videos is called a “Special Look”. It’s a montage of news coverage and interviews around Star Wars covering all nine episodes.

The video also features clips from other TV shows and movies which reference the franchise. How I Met Your Mother, Phineas and Ferb, Arrested Development and much more are featured here.

It’s basically a massive nostalgia trip highlighting Star Wars’ effect on society.

Finally, from a few days ago, we have another shorter video in a 30 second TV spot titled “End”.

Watching this spot over a few times and returning to the trailers, it appears that the only new footage is a second or two of Rey doing the old “jump and I’ll catch you” routine that is usually reserved for helicopters (pictured above), but this time it’s the Millennium Falcon.

For Infinity War and then Endgame Disney was criticised for releasing a deluge of TV spots ahead of those movies launching. With just under a month before The Rise of Skywalker releases, we’ll have to wait and see how many more of these clips we get.
