LEGO Cyber Monday: triple loyalty points on South African purchases

While Cyber Monday is, as the name suggests, usually focused on picking up electronics at a discount, the local arm of the official LEGO stores is focusing on toys instead.

For today only any purchases made on its online store will result in you earning triple the amount of loyalty points.

The loyalty programme at the LEGO store is called Brick Rewards. The way this system usually works is that spending R1 earns you one point. These points can then be redeemed for vouchers which can reduce the price of your next purchase, or exclusive sets which cannot be obtained otherwise.

The list of redeemable rewards are as follows:

  • 5 000 points = R250 voucher
  • 5 000 points =  LEGO set 40145
  • 10 000 points = R500 voucher
  • 15 000 points = R750 voucher
  • 20 000 points = R1 000 voucher

Thankfully this promotion includes back orders, that is buying products which are currently not available and are awaiting a restock. The most notable of these is the 1989 Batmobile. This 3 000 piece behemoth launched on Black Friday and quickly sold out.

With a staggering price tag of R4 499.99, you’ll be earning almost 13 500 points if you buy this set on Cyber Monday, which is enough to unlock the R500 voucher all on its own.

If you are looking to spend a lot of money here to earn as many points as possible, just keep the current promotions in mind. These are sets that you get for free when you buy certain items or a combinations of items. While you’re earning extra points you may as well get even more for your money.

While triple loyalty points are nice, we have to feel for those who spent all their holiday money on Friday. This is because the LEGO stores also ran a promotion on the day for double loyalty points instead.
