The AOC 24G2 and 27G2: Gaming monitors purpose-built for immersion

So you’ve spent your hard-earned money upgrading your gaming setup at home. The rig, graphics card, processor, RAM, storage and RGB lighting have all been taken care of. The next step is peripherals, which means choosing the right keyboard and mouse combination to ensure there is no lag while gaming. The final piece of the puzzle is the gaming monitor right?

That may have been the case a few years ago, but gaming monitors have come a long way in the recent times, and as such can often determine the hardware and components you choose, especially if you’re wanting an unimpeded gaming experience.

If you ask AOC, the gaming monitor might be the first place you look when creating that ultimate PC gaming setup at home. Luckily the display specialists have two offerings to assist in that regard – the AOC 24G2 and 27G2 – both of which are designed for players wanting a responsive and immersive gaming experience.

Minimal bezel, maximum immersion

One of the key elements to the models in the G2 series of AOC gaming monitors are the thin bezels on offer.

Not only does it mean that the monitors look sleek, but they serve a functional purpose too, especially for players who want to chain two or three displays together. Doing so ups the amount of screen real estate on offer, but also allows for multitasking, and should you be wanting to create a streaming or creator-focused setup, two screens are always better than one.

The ultra-thin bezels available on the 24G2 and 27G2 are not the only areas that AOC have paid attention to. Nowhere is this more evident than with the 1ms pixel response time on offer for both models, which means speedy visuals are achieved without a concern for smearing.

As such if you’re playing a visual intense title, such as many of the latest first-person shooters hitting the market at the moment, the 24G2 and 27G2 are primed to handle whatever is thrown at them.

Added to this is support for AMD’s FreeSync technology. The upshot here is that any sort of screen tearing or lag is no longer something you need to worry about. There’s also the 144Hz refresh rate on offer, with AOC taking care of any image stuttering or blurred visuals.

This mix of technologies and features help to ensure that players have a completely faultless gaming experience, and only need to think about the action that is happening on-screen, especially as the last thing you want to deal with while gaming is hardware that is not up to the task.

Both the 24G2 and 27G2 cater to the same set of features, with the key difference between the two being the display sizes available.

The former serves up a 23.8” WLED IPS display with a 1920×1080 resolution. The larger 27” model sports the same 1920×1080 resolution, but crucially supports Nvidia G-Sync, which means if you already have an Nvidia-heavy setup, will make it compatible for your gaming needs.

Each of these models are available in South Africa through distributors like Rectron, but the AOC 24G2 has already proved immensely popular locally with only Evetech still stocking the monitor at this stage. The larger 27G2 is expected to land locally in February next year, so it may be worthwhile waiting for that model instead.
