If you watch a lot of YouTube on your tablet or phone you may notice a new feature the next time you scroll down into the comments.

You will be greeted by a message appearing over the profile picture of a user reading “New! Tap to learn more about this user”.

Doing as the popup says will bring up a quick overview of that user and their interactions with the channel. The amount of comments made by the user on that specific channel, as well as some of those recent comments will be displayed.

In the past tapping in the same space would simply take you directly to that user’s channel. This is still an option as this new screen also has a “View Channel” button in the bottom right corner.

This feature is called Profile Cards and was announced last year by YouTube’s Creator Insider programme. Now in 2020 it appears that Profile Cards have moved out of the testing phase, at least for us using Android in South Africa.

If this new option does not appear for you, update your app. If that still doesn’t add it in it may not be available on your device, operating system, or in your region yet.

Oh, and if anyone’s wondering what video we were watching in the screenshots below, it’s “The Luckiest Game of Monopoly Ever Played” by Nothernlion.
