Samsung has a new head of mobile, meet the man replacing DJ Koh

It is not often that we’ll write about a new executive appointment for a large corporation, but given the number of times we’ve covered a Samsung press conference where co-CEO DJ Koh has been on stage, it seems fitting.

To that end Koh will no longer be the head of mobile for the South Korean company, as Roh Tae-moon has been confirmed as his replacement.

That’s not to say Koh has been ushered out of the business, but rather that he’ll be heading up the IT and mobile communications division for the company. Roh will now be the “face” of the firm as such, when it comes to Galaxy Unpacked events and similar press conferences.

Considering that Koh has been doing so for more than a decade now, Roh has some big shoes to fill, but the firm is said to be confident he can get the job done.

Having joined Samsung in 1997, according to The Verge, Roh will now be tasked with helping to grow the company’s mobile division, which has seen a number of slow financial quarters in recent months.

Perhaps the rumoured folding phone that Samsung is believed to be unveiling at a Galaxy Unpacked event next month will help bolster sales, along with the new Galaxy S20 series of devices. Said event will likely be the first time we see Roh in action come 11th February.
