The Rolodex has been revived as an SD card caddy

SD Card holders, racks and other storage containers remains some of the most popular types of 3D prints out there. Just when you think you’ve seen every possible design for these housings a new one pops up, and this Rolodex-inspired version is a perfect example.

It comes to us from Thingiverse user tetralite who has created a Rolodex with a 24-card capacity, a smooth turning mechanism and individual slots for each card which hold them firmly in place while also being easy to remove.

tetralite tells us that SolidWorks was the CAD programme of choice and the model took just two hours of work to complete before it was time for printing.

While an exact time was not kept for how long printing took, it did come in at less than 24 hours, so you can knock out your own version in less than a day if you decide to make one for yourself.

While no paint or other finishing work was needed here, the card slots were printed in a few different colours to help group them together. While the slots were specifically designed so you can easily see the labels of each card, these colours will help differentiate them at a glance.

Once completed and assembled the finished piece is 10.2 centimetres wide, 11.8 centimetres deep and 12.5 centimetres high. While the beauty of 3D printing usually means that you can scale your prints to any size you want, you’ll want to keep to this size for proper fitment of the cards.

The files to make your own are available for free on Thingiverse. tetralite also worked to make them printable without supports, and the description also contains an exploded diagram for easy assembly.
