Acer brings a number of new notebooks to CES 2020

It is the start of the new decade, and to kick off the year in consumer technology, CES 2020 is the first event where manufacturers will showcase the latest hardware, as has been the case for a number of years now. The week-long event officially starts tomorrow, but that has not stopped the likes of Acer from trying to get a jump on the competition.

To that end the Taiwanese firm had several new pieces of hardware to show off in Las Vegas, and in particular had a number of notebooks to reveal for CES 2020.

Swift 3

The first notebook worth mentioning is a new iteration to the Swift 3, which comes in either a 13.5″ and 14″ models. It’s also a relatively light option, keeping with what the lineup is known for, with the Swift 3 coming in at under 1.2kg. Internal specifications are dependent on regions, but Acer is offering up to 10th Gen Intel Core i7 (1065G7) processors and AMD Ryzen 7 4700U (SF314-42) GPUs.

Precise local pricing and availability are unknown but Acer expects to launch the Swift 3 in March for EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa), starting at $599 (~R8 603).

ConceptD 7

Next up is Acer’s creator-focused ConceptD range, with the ConceptD 7 Ezel Pro leading the way as far as notebooks go. In terms of specifications the Taiwanese firm has not held back, giving the Ezel Pro an Intel Xeon processor, which is usually reserved for workstations, as well as an Nvidia Quadro RTX GPU and Windows 10 Pro as the native operating system.

As the name would suggest the ConceptD 7 Ezel Pro facilitates touch and design in particular with a hinged screen that can be adjusted to the best angle to draw on. This aspect should hold specific interest for artists making 3D content in Acer’s view.

The 7 Ezel Pro is expected to land in South Africa in July, with it slated to cost a substantial $3 099 (~R44 466).

Predator CG552K

Last worth touching on is the Predator gaming range from Acer, and the standout offering here is a massive display in the form of the 55″ CG552K. It’s a 4K (3840×2160) monitor that features an OLED design, boasts a 120Hz refresh rate, Delta E <1 colour accuracy and 98.5 percent coverage. Other notable specifications include a 0.5ms (G to G) response time, and up to 400 nits of brightness with support for VESA certified DisplayHDR.

If all of that intrigues you, the wait to get your hands on the Predator CG552K is long, with Acer slating it for arrival in the EMEA region in Q4 of this year. It will naturally cost a pretty penny too, with Acer slapping a €2 699 (~R43 217) price tag on it, but at least you’ll have time so save up.
