Chromebooks have quickly become the go-to notebooks of choice in the education space for both students and teachers. Naturally then it makes sense that the latest lineup of HP Chromebooks are aimed squarely at them with the new 2020 offerings adding a degree of ruggedness and updated specifications to the mix.

With HP being the number one vendor in the world when it comes to Chromebooks, and an estimated 30 million teachers and learners using the devices worldwide, it obvious as to why the firm wants to continue to dominate the space.

“HP is passionate about creating solutions that provide early learners the opportunity to expand their tools and their minds. With cloud-based mobile learning becoming increasingly relevant, HP’s new Chromebooks help students create and collaborate to deliver meaningful outcomes for themselves and their communities,” explained Andy Rhodes, global head of commercial PCs and personal systems at HP Inc.

As for the devices in question, South Africans should be aware of three in particular – the HP Chromebook 11 G8 Education Edition (EE), HP Chromebook 11A G8 EE and HP Chromebook 11 x360 G3 EE.

For these new offerings, all of which carry the EE standard, HP has added skirted anchored keys for pick-proof durability, as well as improving robustness to survive falls or drops, water splash-proofness and tugs on the power cord. They also feature longer battery life, as well as control for teachers to manage student interactions with HP Classroom Manager, the firm notes.

Delving deeper into the notebooks, the 11″ G8 options are said to be the thinnest education-focused Chromebooks to date, along with a choice of either Intel or AMD processor being made available, and of course sport Chrome OS as its native operating system.

Having only been revealed by HP globally this week, precise pricing is unclear for now. That said HP has said that the Chromebook 11 G8 EE is available now and the HP Chromebook 11A G8 EE arrives later this month. The convertible Chromebook 11 x360 G3 EE is also available now, with all three models capable of being purchased in SA via normal retailers or the channel.
