Daemon X Machina is the latest Nintendo exclusive to come to PC

Mech action game and previous Switch exclusive Daemon X Machina will be coming to PC this month after launching on Nintendo’s platform in September of 2019.

Developed by Marvelous Inc. Daemon X Machina released with relatively little fanfare and mixed reception. Speaking for ourselves here, as we represented both sides of that argument: we’re always happy to see anything involving mechs come out, but this game suffered from a litany of problems.

To spoil our own review (which you should read, by the way) the launch version of this game had a relatively decent mechanical core that was smothered by obtuse mechanics, encouraged repetition and dozens of gameplay hiccups.

It also has maybe the worst story and voice acting we’ve ever experienced in a modern title. We’re not talking regular bad, or so bad it’s good either. Daemon X Machina actively made us resent it with every cutscene we watched and every voice line we listened to.

Other players and reviewers were kinder to the title and found that, while there were lacking elements, it was a solid entry overall that didn’t get a fair shake at things. Now it has a second shot on PC come 13th February.

Yes you will be able to play the game in less than two weeks from the time of this port’s announcement.

A Steam page has already been created where you can browse the various marketing material, should you be in the dark from the Switch launch.

Those who buy the game before the launch will get it for 20% off, and purchases before 13 March unlock some extra DLC.

While coming to PC won’t affect the game itself (barring updates from the original launch) we should at least expect better performance. While the game ran fine on the Switch it definitely suffered from low framerates lacking detail, especially in some of the bigger areas and when enemies swarmed the screen.

We’re also hoping this port will open the gates to modders. Daemon X Machina already featured a great set of customisation tools which even allowed the artistically challenged like us to make this mech based on Samus Aran. Hopefully the modding community can expand on this and add playable mechs from various franchises into the game.

In semi-related news, The Wonderful 101 will also also be coming to PC (as well as PS4) thanks to Kickstarter. This game was also previously on Nintendo hardware only.
