How to stay up to date with (real) PlayStation 5 news

As with every new console generation there are leaks and dodgy information flooding the internet, and that’s never been more true for the upcoming Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5.

Thankfully, at least for the latter, you can now receive updates from the makers of the console itself, Sony.

The Japanese tech giant has finally set up a landing page (or as Sony has called it, an “Explore” page) for the console  which can be found here.

“We’ve begun to share some of the incredible features you can expect from PlayStation 5, but we’re not quite ready to fully unveil the next generation of PlayStation. Sign up below to be among the first to receive updates as we announce them, including news on the PS5 release date, PS5 price and the upcoming roster of PS5 launch games,” the page reads.

Going to that page above and signing up for the newsletter is likely the best way to stay up to date with official news about the latest piece of hardware here.

Aside from your email address you will also need to provide your date of birth and click on one of those “I’m not a robot” checkboxes.

It’s a bit disappointing that there’s no real new information here, but it is nice to know that the endless debates about these new consoles will soon be quashed by official specs from the manufacturers.

At the moment what we know for sure is that the PlayStation 5 will arrive near the end of this year, in what’s referred to as the holiday season of 2020.

There’s currently endless speculation about the exact specs and price of the PS5, especially in comparison to the Xbox One X. The latest snippet is that the PS5 price won’t be unveiled until the RRP for the new Xbox is. Now with this newsletter from Sony we can hopefully just wait for that information to arrive in our inboxes.
