Gird your bank account, here’s what the Galaxy S20-series and Galaxy Z Flip will cost you in South Africa

The first major smartphone launch of 2020 is now behind us and Samsung announced a trio of devices at Unpacked 2020 hosted in San Francisco.

The three devices in question are the Samsung Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+ and the – dare we say prosumer focused – Galaxy S20 Ultra.

As a first release territory it should come as welcome news that South Africa will be first in line to receive these devices when they launch on 6th March.

Samsung Mobile South Africa announced local pricing shortly after the livestream concluded.

The pricing for each model follows below:

  • Samsung Galaxy S20 – From R18 999
  • Samsung Galaxy S20+ – From R20 999
  • Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra – From R26 999

Sadly, none of the devices which will be available in South Africa will sport 5G capabilities.

If you happen to pre-order or purchase a Samsung Galaxy S20+ or S20 Ultra before 12th March, Samsung will throw in a pair of its new Galaxy Buds+ for free.

Galaxy Z Flip pricing is on what we’d describe as the “insane” side.

At a starting price of R29 999, its more affordable than the Galaxy Fold but we use “affordable” contextually here.

That having been said having had a short while with the Flip, it is a massive improvement on the fragility of its predecessor.

The Galaxy Z Flip will be made available in South Africa from the 6th March as well but there will be a special pre-release sale later this month. On 22nd February Samsung will host a one-day limited stock sale in Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban.

For those that care about being the first with the latest and greatest tech, we’ll provide additional details regarding that sale ahead of time.

For now though, start saving your money for an all new Samsung device.
