Eskom – No loadshedding expected today

We have some slightly good news this morning as Eskom has confirmed that there is no expected loadshedding today (12th February). The power utility took to Twitter, as it does every morning, to share an update about its status.

“While the system remains vulnerable, several units have returned successfully and good progress has been made in replenishing emergency reserves,” Eskom noted in a statement.

The firm also advised customers using electricity today to do so sparingly as a means to reduce demand during this time. The chances of that happening are slim, especially as Eskom has previously stated that there is a likelihood of increased loadshedding over the next 18 months.

Many Johannesburg residents experienced this over the past weekend, but much of the power interruptions were placed on the high rainfall that hit the city during that period, which led to some infrastructure being effected.

As for what the outlook for the rest of the week and upcoming weekend are, Eskom did not provide any additional information at the time of writing, but it’s always a good idea to follow the power utility’s official Twitter account, as well as the supplier in your area in order to stay up to date.

We’ve also found Eskom Se Push to be a helpful app for keeping tabs on loadshedding schedules, as well as any changes to the stages of loadshedding.

In the interim let’s see if we can enjoy this reprieve, as it may not last long.
