Last night saw Samsung hold its first Galaxy Unpacked event of the year, which means there is a number of new devices to dissect and fawn over. More specifically there is a new foldable offering from the South Korean firm in the form of the Galaxy Z Flip.

The device is not a second iteration of the Galaxy Fold which Samsung revealed, delayed and eventually launched last year, as it sports a clamshell-designed form factor. As such Samsung is punting the fact that the Z Flip can fold into a more compact shape, as apposed to the Fold which opens up to provide more screen real estate.

While both phones are different, they are both foldable and come from the same manufacturer. With that in mind we’ve done a quick specifications comparison below, including price, in order to see how the two devices stack up against one another on paper.

Looking through the list above the Galaxy Fold is sporting the better specs, with the only exception being the processor and price. The latter is for good reason as Samsung essentially stuck two phones together to make the Fold a possibility. That said the Galaxy Z Flip isn’t modestly priced by any stretch and is certainly one of the most expensive devices on the market today.

That said we think the clamshell design will win a lot of people with deep pockets over, and when the Z Flip goes up for limited sale on 22nd February, we would not be surprised if it sells out very quickly.
