Huawei gives its FreeBuds 3 earphones a Valentine’s Day makeover

It is Valentine’s Day, depending on when you’re reading this, which means you’re likely to see more red throughout the day than normal. Huawei is embracing this trend and taking advantage of the most romantic day of the year to release a new red colour option on its FreeBuds 3 wireless earphones.

The wearables have been available to purchase in the country for a few months now, but to date have only been featured in an all white or all black option, with them bearing a strong resemblance to the Apple AirPods.

This new colour option, however, offers up something a little different, and could help distinguish the FreeBuds from the plethora of wireless earphones that have been flooding the market of late.

Apart from the new paint job, these FreeBuds 3 earphones work much like their less colourful counterparts, featuring built-in intelligent noise cancellation, low latency and solid battery life thanks to a charging case.

To add a bit more incentive to purchase the FreeBuds 3, Huawei is throwing in a free wireless charger (valued at R699) at selected retailers across the country. In terms of price, they are listed at the same R2 999 that the earphones first cost when launched late last year.

Local outlets sticking the FreeBuds 3, as well as the aforementioned wireless charger, are Vodacom stores, Cape Union Mart, Sportsman’s Warehouse TotalSports, Hi-Store and Takealot and of course the Huawei Store.

While we have not seen the new red option in-person, we did weigh in on the original FreeBuds last year, so you can read our review to find out if the wireless earphones are worthwhile.
