Nvidia unboxes the RTX 2080 Ti Cyberpunk 2077 Edition

Last week Nvidia revealed a very special version of its RTX 2080 Ti themed after the upcoming game Cyberpunk 2077. At the time we only had promotional shots to gawk at, but now we can see it in motion.

This is thanks to the official Nvidia GeForce channel on YouTube which has just released an unboxing of the GPU.

As a quick reminder just 200 of these cards have been produced, and you can’t buy them. That’s because, of those 200, 77 have been set aside to give away in the RTXOn contest, the details of which you can find here.

That means that this unboxing is one of the very few that will ever see the light of day. Assuming the 77 winners of the contest upload their own unboxings, there is still a finite amount of these that can ever be cracked open. We’re willing to bet that many winning cards will also be kept in box as a pricey collector’s item.

As for what differentiates this from a regular RTX 2080 Ti that you can actually buy – there’s an aluminium shroud in a rather striking yellow colour that is meant to have separation marks similar to those seen on characters in the game. These marks represent areas of the body where the characters have been augmented.

On the side of the card, which would face towards the case panel which is usually a window, the GeForce logo lights up in teal instead of the regular green.

The previously mentioned contest to win one of these rare cards is ongoing at the time of writing and will end come 28th February. The Ts and Cs of the contest state that the card is worth $1 100 (~R16 711) but we have to imagine that any which make it to the secondhand market will sell for much more than that.
