Watcha! Battle Through Time is a Samurai Jack game coming this year

Well here’s a bit of a surprise: in US Summer of this year (some time between late June and late September) we’ll be getting a Samurai Jack game called Battle Through Time.

From the short announcement trailer (embedded below) we know that this will be a hack and slash that will incorporate elements from the final season of the show that appeared on Adult Swim. If you’re wondering why the samurai has a beard and is using a gun, then you probably haven’t seen season five.

In terms of the story this game apparently “ties into the epic series finale” so maybe we will see some kind of parallel adventure happening, or a game that follows the events of the last season with some extra stuff thrown in. Given the subtitle here we may see some time travel shenanigans to visit classic stories from earlier seasons.

Adult Swim Games is the publisher here with development being handled by Soleil. This company is responsible for Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker.

Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time will be available on Playstation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC. For PC there is already a Steam page up where you can read up a bit about the game, such as the fact that the voice actors from the show will return for this game. Hopefully it stays on Steam and doesn’t make a Switch to being an Epic Store exclusive as we get closer to the release date.

Also from the Steam page we learn that there will be more than a dozen different weapons to use, so you won’t be stuck with the famous magic sword for the entire playthrough.

This is not the first time that this property has gotten a videogame. All the way back in 2014 there was Samurai Jack: The Shadow of Aku that was published by Sega. We’d be lying if we said that we’d played this game or even remembered it without a Google search, so hopefully Battle Through Time has more of a lasting impact.
