SweepSouth introduces vouchers for cleaning sessions affected by loadshedding

In recent months loadshedding has had a profoundly negative effect on the way that many businesses reliant on a stable supply of electricity have been able to operate. Homeowners too have been affected, and local cleaning startup SweepSouth is aware of this.

That is why the company recently announced a new voucher system to help clients who get hit unexpectedly with loadshedding while one of the cleaners on the platform is at their residence.

“Vacuum cleaners, dishwashers, washing machines, and other electrical equipment are part of a cleaning routine in most homes and offices, making it difficult for our SweepStars to complete their jobs in the allotted time when load-shedding strikes. While SweepStars can’t be expected to work beyond the hours for which they’ve been booked, recognising how this affects our clients we have decided to offer relief in the form of a voucher for 1 hour’s free cleaning,” the company explained in a press release sent to us.

Perhaps more crucially, the people doing the cleaning will not be hampered by loadshedding either. “Importantly, this will in no way affect SweepStars who will still be paid in full for the hours for which they have been booked,” the company adds.

This is welcome news especially as SweepSouth, which was founded in 2014, has created opportunities for an estimated 15 000 previously unemployed individuals. Furthermore, it has assisted in terms of ensuring those doing the cleaning are paid a fairer wage than if they were still getting work informally.

As for getting a voucher should loadshedding affect one of your booked cleaning sessions, SweepSouth has directed clients to email them here.
