Temtem to launch in Spring 2021, will have a Nuzlocke game mode

Currently in early access, Temtem, the creature catching and battling game looking to take on Pokémon with an MMO approach, will have its 1.0 launch next year.

This news comes from a content roadmap revealed by developer Crema. Recently the studio released a short-term roadmap for the game but now has provided players will a full scope for what will be happening right up until release and a bit after that.

Firstly that release period – Spring 2021. While that’s still a while away it’s not too far off given the scale of the game being made by the small team here.

Accompanying 1.0 release is console ports, cross-play and cross-saves. While those last two features sound amazing the developer does stress that they may run into problems with the console manufacturers when it comes time to implement this.

Finally, let’s talk about Nuzlocke. This method of playing a game was developed by the Pokémon community and is a set of self-imposed rules to make playing Game Freak’s titles more challenging. The core of a Nuzlocke challenge is that when a creature is defeated it is not knocked out but is instead “dead” and can never be used again. There are also other rules about how and where new creatures can be captured.

When Crema introduces this as an official game mode into Temtem there will be additional restrictions to make up for the fact that this is an MMO.

“Nuzlocke players will play on a different instance of the server, and they will only play around other Nuzlocke players. Trading will be limited due to the Nuzlocke rules, but PVP will not. So if you’re brave enough, you will be able to duel other players and face a permanent loss,” the developer writes.

The full content roadmap for Temtem is summed up in the image below, with more details available on the developer’s website.
