BAC 2020 keynote speaker Charles Hoskinson to deliver address via video

The Blockchain Africa Conference 2020 (BAC 2020) is taking place from 11th to 12th March at Investec’s offices in Sandton, Johannesburg.

The conference is set to feature a keynote address from founder and chief executive officer of Input Output Hong Kong (IOHK) Charles Hoskinson.

Unfortunately, due to the rising threat of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), Hoskinson will not be travelling to South Africa for the event.

“Our keynote speaker Charles Hoskinson has had to cancel his trip to Johannesburg next week. However, some good news is that he will be doing a pre-recording of his presentation so that our attendees will still benefit from this mathematician, cryptographer, serial entrepreneur and leading industry commentator who has been involved in the world of blockchain and cryptocurrencies since the early days of bitcoin,” BAC 2020 organisers told Hypertext in an email.

While Hoskinson won’t be at the event, at least we will be hearing from him in some form. His absence at the conference while regrettable, is understandable given the spread of COVID-19.

Other speakers at the event next week include blockchain lead at Investec Private Banking, Chris Becker and Blockchain Advisor at OECD, Loretta Joseph.

Hypertext will be attending BAC 2020 bringing you news and features from the event.
