Warframe celebrates 7 years with free content and a design contest

This month free to play juggernaut Warframe is celebrating seven years since launching in 2013, and it’s getting its community involved with free DLC and the chance to design a new Warframe of their own.

Let’s start with the free stuff. Those who log in during March get a free Dex Raksaka armour set. Playing alerts during every weekend this March also unlocks weapon slots, weapons, skins more. The full details of this can be found here.

If you’re more interested in creating something that can appear in the game, an ongoing design contest is likely more up your alley. Entrants can submit their idea for a new Warframe to appear in the game.

The last time developer Digital Extremes did something like this it, along with the community, created Nova. Now new and returning players will have the opportunity to have a similar impact on the game.

Entry for the contest is open until 19th March. To participate head on over to the Warframe forums where you’ll find guidelines for the event. Digital Extremes has also shared this timeline which shows that this new Warframe will be revealed come 11th July.

As the internet is endlessly creative we’re sure something interesting will come out of this. Even for non-players / recovering addicts like ourselves, the unique bio-mechanical aesthetic of the game is nice to passively experience.

More details about the Warframe seventh year anniversary can be found on this dedicated page. This site features a timeline with the various milestones of the game since launch.

Warframe is free to play on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. Those wading in for the first time should note that this game is an absolute time vampire and we lost large swathes of our lives when we got addicted to it a few years ago.

If that doesn’t put you off the community is very friendly and always welcoming to new players, and it’s an incredibly good time once you get into it properly.
