Stage 4 loadshedding to continue until further notice

Anybody hoping to see the end of loadshedding today may be disappointed by the latest news from Eskom.

The utility has issued a statement this afternoon in which it says that Stage 4 loadshedding will continue until further notice.

Worse still, Eskom doesn’t foresee loadshedding stopping at the weekend.

“We expect that loadshedding, at various stages, may continue into the weekend. The pump fault on Koeberg Unit 1 is being fixed, and it is envisaged that the unit will be back in service at the weekend,” said Eskom in a power alert.

The utility added that is making use of emergency generation reserves, including diesel. but that’s not necessarily a good thing. We say this because those reserves would need to be restored and that usually brings about another session of loadshedding.

There’s not much hope then for respite from loadshedding but we live in hope that the situation improves.

Check your schedules, stock up on candles and gas and get ready for what is looking like a rather dark week in March.
