As COVID-19 has spread rapidly throughout the world we’ve seen a number of companies coming to the party to help efforts to prevent the spread and assist those on the frontlines of fighting the pandemic.

Both Sharp and Razer have begun manufacturing face masks to address shortages and now SpaceX is also starting efforts to assist with the fight against COVID-19.

According a report by CNBC, SpaceX is making sanitiser (in accordance with CDC guidelines) and face shields to be sent to hospitals and other businesses.

An internal memo seen by CNBC reportedly states that SpaceX built 75 face shields at the weekend and delivered these masks to Cedars Sinai, in Hawthorne, California.

As many as 100 Tyvek protective suits were also donated.

The report continues to state that SpaceX employees have also convinced the firm to host a blood drive together with the American Red Cross.

In other news relating to Elon Musk companies, Tesla hopes to start production of ventilators soon.

Taking to Twitter, Musk stated that production of ventilators – which are in incredibly short supply in various parts of the world – would begin as soon as Tesla’s Gigafactory in New York was reopened.

Giga New York will reopen for ventilator production as soon as humanly possible. We will do anything in our power to help the citizens of New York.

While the spread of COVID-19 is a major concern it’s great to see companies jumping at the opportunity to help those in need.
