Intel’s new 10th Gen Core-H processors break past the 5GHz barrier

Intel has announced a new series of 10th Gen Core-H processors and they mark a significant milestone for the silicon manufacturers.

To that end the new series has seen Intel break through the 5GHz barrier in terms of performance, and consequently gives the company some teeth when going up against its competition for the hard earned cash of gamers.

The series’ flagship model is the i9-10980HK, which features a turbo-boosted performance of 5.3GHz, and eight core architecture and 16 threads, as well as 16MB of Intel Smart Cache on offer. This design yields a 44 percent better overall performance compared to a three year old system, according to the manufacturer, along with 54 percent more frames per second and two times faster 4K video rendering.

Joining the flagship model is the i7-10750H processor, which can hit a maximum clock speed of 5.0GHz. It too features enhancements across the board compared to the older iteration, such as 44 percent more frames per second, 33 percent better overall performance and 70 percent improved 4K video rendering.

“Today’s introduction of the 10th Gen Intel Core H-series mobile platform extends Intel’s gaming leadership, delivering desktop-caliber performance in a mobile form factor and breadth of choice with more than 100 laptop designs launching this year, including more than 30 thin-and-light systems,” explains Fredrik Hamberger, GM of the premium and gaming notebook segments at Intel.

“The new platform is optimized for enthusiasts and creators by delivering the fastest frequency in the industry with 5 GHz across the majority of the volume which will deliver amazing game play and rich creation for users,” he adds.

The wait won’t be long for new gaming notebooks supporting the 10th Gen Core-H series, with Asus, Gigabyte and MSI all readying hardware announcements for the coming weeks. As for when they’ll be available locally though, given the COVID-19 pandemic and national lockdown, remains to be seen.

For now, you can take a gander at Intel’s overview of the new series below.
