Local pricing and availability confirmed for new HP Envy 17

Earlier this month HP debuted a 2020 model of its Envy 17 notebook. Like many of the devices being revealed in the past few weeks, it remains to be seen when the device will be reaching certain parts of the globe, but we now have an idea of its local pricing availability.

To that end HP hopes to have the premium notebook ready for purchase in SA come 25th June, with recommended retail pricing expected to start at R34 999, depending on the model you opt for.

As such the 2020 model of HP Envy 17 is aimed squarely at the MacBook crowd who may be contemplating a switch to a Windows 10 supporting device.

Now that we know when it will land locally, and for how much, let’s run through what the Envy 17 will be sporting when it does.

Well as you can tell from the name, the Envy 17 sports a large 17″ 4K UHD display, with an 86 percent screen-to-body ratio to ensure that the bezels on the size aren’t big and as much real estate is available to users.

The notebook will also support Intel’s latest 10th Gen Core processors, but it will not include the recently revealed Core-H offerings. Instead, HP has opted for the Ice Lake series of processors, with the i7-1065G7 being one of the specifications for silicon.

Added to this is up to an Nvidia MX330 graphics card, up to 32GB of RAM and up to a 1TB SATA HDD and 16 GB PCIe NVMe Intel Optane or a 1TB PCIe NVMe TLC M.2 SSD. HP is also claiming up to 10.5 hours of battery life on a single full charge, so the Envy 17 should lend itself to portability too.

Whether this mix of components and design will be enough to tempt users into buying a premium notebooks, remains to be seen, but the simple silver colour option should fit in well in most offices.
