Epic Game Store coupons from Holiday Sale 2019 expire on 1st May

The end off last year the Epic Games Store hosted the Holiday Sale 2019. The unique element of the sale was a $10 coupon which was given to all users and, when applied to a transaction, would grant yet another coupon to use on another sale.

Because of this many people ended the sale with a coupon sitting in their account to be used at a later date. That later date has to be now, however, as these coupons are expiring soon.

On 1st May the $10 coupons earned in the Holiday Sale 2019 will expire. As for the exact time of this expiration, there seems to be a bit of contradiction. On the dedicated Holiday Sale 2019 page it pegs the time as 2:59 AM EST. That’s 9:00 AM in South Africa and you can see the exact local time for your account by navigating to the coupon page on your account. In a browser, log in and click on your username in the top right corner. “Coupons” are the third option there.

It’s been a while since the sale so it’s worth restating the sole requirement here: the coupons can only be used on games which cost $14.99 or more.

If you’re looking for recommendations we suggest Control, Rainbow Six Siege and Slime Rancher are up there. All of these are fantastic titles which aren’t priced too high and get even cheaper with the coupon.

For us in South Africa, the poor US exchange rate means that we’ll still have to spend a bit here. At the time of writing the $14.99 threshold is about R277. The $10 coupon translates to around R185 off of your purchase.

This is the second time that the Epic Games Store has been in the news recently. Earlier today it was announced that two-factor authentication (2FA) would be needed to claim the weekly free games on the platform.
