Despite contention around the sequel trilogy, the ongoing pandemic and everything else going on in the world, 4th May, Star Wars Day, has come around once again to unite the community in celebrating the stories franchise.
As always there’s been a deluge of content to come from the many fans around the world. Pieces of art, videos, fanfics, builds and more are being shared on just about every corner of the internet right now. Even those who don’t consider themselves the creative types are taking to social media platforms to share their story about how Star Wars has impacted their lives.
We’ve been watching this all unfold over the past few hours and we’ve gathered a few of our favourites here. While these are fan creations some of them come from companies taking part in the celebration. The header image above, for example, is from the Scuderia AlphaTauri F1 team
Before getting into that, however, we have to provide a warning of all things. In late April Disney+ asked fans to share their content using the #MayThe4th hashtag on Twitter. In doing so it added a follow up stating that some rights to that content would be waived or turned over. See our dedicated story for more information.
As we’re not lawyers we can’t advise you about what to do, but we suggest that you read the Ts&Cs linked above.
Most of the content embedded below is self-explanatory but we have to give special mention to James Turner. The talented British artist works at Game Freak and is one of the very few Westerners to have had sway on the Pokémon franchise. After designing many Pokémon himself and acting as the art director for Sword and Shield, it makes his Darth Pika even more special.
Finally, it’s worth mentioning that, because of time zones, more fan content will pour onto the internet in the coming hours. As the Americans wake up they’re sure to have a lot to add to Star Wars Day.
