Salesforce announces new Work.com platform to assist businesses re-opening

Last week South Africa exited its extended lockdown and has now entered a phased approach with a small number of businesses heading back to work under level 4. As levels lower, more people will be returning to office life, but it will not be the same as it was before the COVID-19 pandemic started.

To assist businesses making the return to the new normal, Salesforce recently announced a new Work.com platform for enterprises and communities alike.

As Salesforce explains, the new offering is a reservoir of “New technology solutions and resources to help business and community leaders around the world reopen safely, re-skill employees and respond efficiently on the heels of the COVID-19 pandemic.”

“Work.com includes new solutions to accelerate private and public sector response to the COVID-19 pandemic, including employee wellness assessment; shift management; contact tracing; emergency response management; and grants and volunteer management. The Work.com Command Center brings all data streams together so that businesses and communities can make more informed decisions,” it adds.

As such, it could prove a powerful tool moving forward, especially as the unprecedented events of the past couple of months have created a drastic shift in the way people work, forcing businesses to adapt quickly or run the risk of falling to the wayside.

Added to this is the fact that many smaller organisations, and SMEs in particular, are not necessarily geared for handling these kinds of re-openings, given that they have so little experience in it.

It is why Salesforce is a part of Business Roundtable, which is currently looking at the healthcare perspective of re-opening businesses, where locally it carries with it several government-mandated provisos.

“Business Roundtable is focused on an economic recovery that puts public health first and allows businesses of all sizes to reopen swiftly and safely,” explains Joshua Bolten, President & CEO of Business Roundtable.

“Safety first and consistent guidelines are critical to reopening. Salesforce is providing an important public service by giving businesses and organisations of all sizes this suite of free resources to help them navigate current guidance and get back to business safely when they can do so,” he adds.

Along with looking at things from a mission-critical perspective, Work.com will also make contact tracing, employee wellness, shift management and emergency response management tools available in the platform.

Salesforce will be making its Work.com tools available in June this year, with it starting at $5 per user per month as add-ons to the Platform Starter application. With more business pushing to return to work in coming weeks, it may be something work considering.
