Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2 is remastered and out this year

After years of dormancy the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater games are back with remasters of 1 and 2.

Releasing on 4th September 2020 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, the two remasters are packaged together as a single collection.

The developer handling this job is Vicarious Visions, which has proved its remaster chops with the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy.

In a bit of a marketing blitz a few hours ago several resources to gawk at and learn about the collection became available.

The first is a trailer showing off some promising things (embedded below), a dedicated website and several tweets from people like Tony Hawk himself talking about the features on offer here.

“#THPS is back! Original maps, original skaters, and songs from the original soundtrack… plus new features. Thanks to all the fans of our series for keeping this dream alive,” Hawk said on Twitter.

Going back to the official site and we learn that there will be three versions of the title- a standard base game, a digital deluxe edition and a collector’s edition featuring a full size Birdhouse skateboard deck.

One of the big draws of pre-ordering now is access to a demo set in the famous warehouse level. More information about the demo will be released later, but we have to provide the necessary warning against pre-ordering in general. This is especially true here with just a few months to wait for the full release.

Finally it’s worth mentioning that on PC the game is exclusive to the Epic Games Store. Putting aside the problems people have with Epic’s store, one big reason commentors have for hating this decision is a missing feature which Steam has.

The Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2 remasters have split screen, which would have theoretically meant that two players could share one game using Steam’s Remote Play Together. Hopefully the exclusivity is timed.
