Iron Man VR gets physical bundle, digital demo

Marvel’s Iron Man VR game, a PlayStation VR exclusive, has popped up once again with a double hit of news: you can play a demo for the game right now, and you can buy a bundle for it which includes the hardware you need to play.

Let’s start with the demo. It’s available to download here and it contains quite a bit of content. The official PlayStation blog reveals that there are four missions to play through, as well as an “Interactive Stark Jet cinematic starring Tony, Friday & Pepper Potts”.

You can see some of the demo in the trailer below, as well as the “Molten Lava Armor Deco” which will unlock in the full game for those who play the demo.

Now for the unimaginatively named PlayStation VR Marvel’s Iron Man VR Bundle. Long names are fine but did you really need to have “VR” in there twice?

Putting that aside the bundle contains the full Iron Man VR game, the PlayStation VR headset, two Move controllers, the PlayStation camera and a PSVR Demo Disc.

The bundle will sell for $349.99 (~R6 156) when it launches on the same day the game does – 3rd July.

Pre-orders are already open but it will not be available everywhere. The PlayStation Blog only makes mention of these markets: US, Canada, Columbia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico, Panama, Peru, and Republica Dominicana.

While there is the chance that this bundle comes to countries and territories outside of those listed, it wouldn’t be a trainwreck if it isn’t. The PSVR hardware is on sale anywhere the PlayStation 4 is and you can simply download the Iron Man VR game and the demo disc online.

We think they really missed a trick here to make the bundle special. A headset and controller pair in the iconic red and gold would have made it much more desirable.
