Nedbank has announced today that its customers will be able to donate their Greenbacks to the COVID-19 Solidarity Fund.

Greenbacks serve a dual purpose by granting customers loyalty rewards while helping them manage their money.

One of the features of Greenbacks is the ability to support a worthy cause and what cause more worthy of support than the COVID-19 Solidarity Fund.

In order to donate your Greenbacks to the fund using Nedbank’s Money App, head to Rewards, tap Redeem and then choose Donate to Solidarity Fund.

For those that prefer to use the website log in and then click Donate Points, select Solidarity Fund and then enter the amount of points you’d like to donate. Click Add to Cart to make your donation.

“The Nedbank Greenbacks option will offer clients a very real way to directly contribute to national efforts to help South Africans in need,” explains executive head of loyalty and rewards at Nedbank, Dharmesh Bhana.

“At the same time, this option does not place a direct financial burden on people’s budgets. Donating Greenbacks allows clients to continue to practice good money management practices while doing good at the same time,” Bhana added.

The bank says that the amount of Greenback points on its systems could “add substantially to the Solidarity Fund”.

“As our country faces one of its toughest challenges yet, the Solidarity Fund has represented that beacon of hope where all of us as South Africans have come together to lend a hand towards fighting this common enemy. It’s a great example of how we can to work together. Everyone contributing is making a difference, no matter the size of that contribution,” said the Solidarity Fund’s chief executive officer Nomkhita Nqweni.

FNB also allows its customers to donate eBucks to the Solidarity Fund through the eBucks Shop.
