The Season of the Worthy wraps up next week and while usually we’d be sharing a trailer about the next season right about now, we have nothing.

Well that’s not expressly true, we have two teasers. The first was released on 3rd June and features The Drifter.

The second teaser is actually the first teaser we saw, but that was only thanks to a leak. On Thursday afternoon the teaser was officially released.

There is also the matter of an in-game cutscene which dropped on Tuesday when players logged on after the weekly reset.

While Bungie hasn’t confirmed anything as of yet we do know that the first time we will hear about the next season in Destiny 2 is 9th June.

This is because, well, Bungie told us this last week.

“You’ll learn about the next Season of Destiny 2 at the same time that we talk about the next chapter in this story that has been unfolding all year long,” Bungie community manager David “DeeJ” Dague wrote last week.

While many players took that to mean “next week’s This Week at Bungie Update” alas, that TWAB has come and gone with nary a whisper of the next season.

So then it seems that we will learn about what to expect through until September on Tuesday.

Whatever the reveal is, it’s going to be big.

No, we don’t believe that Europa (the Moon of Jupiter featured in the teasers) will form part of the season, but we do think that a number of events during season 11 will be the catalyst that leads us there.

That said, during a ViDoc in September, Bungie developers noted that, “Season eight is the catalyst. Season nine is really where things start to build and then season 10 is where things start to get pretty intense and then season 11 everything is going to come together and you’re going to want to be there to see it happen. It’s going to be like no other time in Destiny”.

With that in mind, perhaps Bungie is just crazy enough to drop an entirely new patrol space into a seasonal expansion.

Whatever Bungie has planned you can watch it all unfold at this URL on 9th June at 18:00 local time.
