Screening employees for COVID-19? There’s a WhatsApp app for that

With many workers now back in an office following the implementation of level three lockdown regulations on Monday, employers have a wealth of responsibilities to insure the workforce is not at risk.

For firms with 500 or more employees in the construction, manufacturing, business and financial services sectors this means – among other things – daily screening of employees for COVID-19 symptoms.

Any way you slice that, screening 500 employees a day is bound to cause operational issues so CM.com together with Graylink have come up with a solution.

That solution is called Back2Work and it is a workflow service built into WhatsApp using the WhatsApp Business API.

Back2Work allows workers to access COVID-19 screening questions on their own devices from anywhere. This allows the business to make decisions quickly.

“What makes Back2Work so impactful is its risk reporting. By processing and crunching the employee data received via WhatsApp, we can send relevant, insight-driven reports to managers to determine who is safe to return to work, who should continue working from home, and who should perhaps seek medical attention,” explains head of product at Graylink, Carl Warburg.

Reports can be sent daily, weekly or monthly depending on the needs of your organisation.

Graylink has a demo up online that you can check out for yourself. The questions are rather simple and firms can customise some questions depending on the package it selects.

Making your employees wait in a queue to re-enter the workplace – although logical and well-intended – sends exactly the wrong message, never mind wasting time and potentially increasing infection,” adds Warburg.
