Adult Swim resurrects Xavier: Renegade Angel for 2020 graduates

If 2020 couldn’t get any more surreal Adult Swim has dug up Xavier: Renegade Angel to speak to students graduating this year.

This is part of the Commencement Speaker Series 2020 which has been uploaded by Adult Swim for the for the past few weeks.

It originally started with Eric Andre and other (real) celebrities. The aim here is to give students some consolation for not being able to have graduation ceremonies this year due to the pandemic. While these kind of events are much bigger deals in America, graduations have been put on hold or cancelled everywhere.

The series then moved away from real people as Carl from Aqua Teen Hunger Force had a speech too recently. Unlike the real speeches before then this speech was animated just like the original show.

This all brings us to Xavier: Renegade Angel. Like the Carl speech this is animated, but it doesn’t look like the show did. Instead of the early 2000s, World of Warcraft-esque look that the show is known for, the animation here is a bit newer and even more unsettling.

If you missed the absolutely ridiculous, but sometimes thought provoking dialogue of Xavier well you’ll be happy to know that it has fully returned here.

The visual parts of the jokes are equally on par with what we’ve come to expect from this series, so it’s a nice little return to this show that has been officially over for some time now.

If you’ve never seen it before, oh boy, it’s difficult to recommend. Give a few of the old episodes a watch and maybe listen to the Sardonicast explore the entire franchise. You can always hit play on the video below and go in blind, of course.

Oh, and in the last minute or so your computer or phone isn’t glitching out, it’s all intentional.
