At the top of the year we planned out our calendar, marking each major tech conference and planning our coverage of those conferences.

As it turns out that session would’ve likely been better spent arguing the merits of a firetruck sculpted from ice as, so far, most of the major tech conferences for 2020 have been cancelled or rescheduled.

The latest conference to be rescheduled to 2021 is Computex. The reason as with all other conference cancellations this year is of course, COVID-19.

“The outbreak of pandemic Covid-19 has disturbed all major economic sectors of the whole world. Many countries have imposed travel restrictions to help curb the spread of Covid-19,” reads a note on the Computex website.

“Computex stakeholders, including international exhibitors, visitors and media, may not be able to join the show consequently. Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) and Taipei Computer Association (TCA), the organizers of Computex, therefore decided to reschedule Computex to 2021,” the note continues.

While Taiwan only has 443 confirmed COVID-19 cases, bringing a plane load of journalists, exhibitors and visitors into the country from areas where COVID-19 is more prevalent just sounds like a bad idea.

As for Computex in 2021, the event will take place from 1st – 5th June.

While there is no conference TAITRA has launched a series of online services you can check out. We’ve listed all of those below.
