Suddenly having issues with your printer? Windows Updates may be to blame

Here’s something to throw a spanner into the works of your home office – a Windows 10 bug that prevents your printer from, well, printing.

The problem rests in two buggy updates namely KB4560960 and KB4557957 which were sent out on 9th June. Shortly after the updates were pushed out users started reporting issues where they couldn’t use their printer.

Upon further investigation Microsoft said, “After installing KB4557957, certain printers may be unable to print. Print spooler may error or close unexpectedly when attempting to print and no output will come from affected printer. You might also encounter issues with the apps you are attempting to print from. You might receive an error from the app or the app may close unexpectedly.”

The bug affects seemingly every version of Windows 10 from the latest version 2004 all the way back to version 1607.

Worse still, some users can’t even “print-to-PDF” as a result of this bug.

So what can you do while you wait for Microsoft to issue a patch for the buggy patch?

According to Engadget it seems you may be able to reinstall your printer’s driver. The alternative is to roll back the updates which can be a bit of a chore.

That having been said if you desperately need to print something today you may have undertake that chore.
