Dell reveals new G7 notebook in 15″ and 17″ flavours

Yesterday seemed like a banner day as far as virtual events are concerned, with a number on the go in the afternoon. As such, you may have missed a few announcements out of Dell and its new gaming devices, one of which was the new G7 notebook.

While the G7 notebook does not have the same stylings as the Alienware brand (owned by Dell), it is not to be taken lightly, given some of the specifications that are listed for the device.

Consequently it is designed for users who want gaming notebook performance, but perhaps need something that looks a little more subtle.

The G7 notebook will also come in two different display sizes – 15″ and 17″ – with each serving up slim bezels on the sides in particular. The bezels have shrunk from 9.9mm on the previous model to 6.5mm on the 15″ variant and 8.16mm on the 17″ model.

Dell also isn’t holding back on the internals either, with up to 10th Gen Core i9 processors on offer, as well as up to Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 with Max-Q Design on the 15″, or Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 Super on the 17″.

Of course, it remains to be seen which components can be specced for local customers, but Dell has confirmed that both models are destined for our shores come September later this year.

Other elements included in the design of the new G7 notebook include a glass trackpad, customisable chassis lighting and 4-zone RGB keyboard. Added to this is what Dell calls a “Game Shift” macro key that kicks the fan’s speed into dynamic performance mode for intensive gaming scenes, along with Nahimic 3D Audio with VoiceBoost and Sound Tracker radar.

All of this comes in a svelte all-metal black anodised chassis that shouldn’t look out of place at the office either, provided the RGB is turned off.

No local pricing confirmed yet, but Stateside the G7 notebook in both the 15″ and 17″ flavours will start at $1 429 (~R24 726).
