Nutanix adds remote cloud management capabilities to its solutions

For IT teams that manage cloud infrastructure, new features from Nutanix may help to manage those resources, remotely.

One of these new additions is Nutanix Foundation Central.

Managed through the Prism interface, Nutanix Foundation Central allows for the rapid deployment of infrastructure. Should an enterprise need additional capacity, a non-configured appliance can be installed and then quickly configured remotely, lessening the need for a team member to be on site.

Foundation Central can also be used to scale existing infrastructure to keep pace with business growth.

While Foundation Central is available right now, Nutanix Insights and Nutanix Lifecycle Manager will be coming later.

That having been said we can still take a look at what Nutanix Insights will offer once it goes live.

“The new service will analyse telemetry from customers’ cloud deployments, including all clusters, sites and geographies, to identify on-going and potential issues that could impact application and data availability,” explains the firm.

Once issues are identified, Insights can automatically open a support ticket with Nutanix and a Site Reliability Engineer will be assigned to analyse the problem.

The firm says that this service alone will help resolve 30 percent of customer issues without them needing to file a support ticket.

For teams that are juggling multiple services and processes at any given time, Nutanix Insights may be a useful tool when it eventually comes to market.

Finally the company is introducing Lifecycle Manager (LCM). With this in place, customers are able to upgrade Nutanix software stacks and update an appliance’s firmware with a single click.

“LCM can automatically determine any software and firmware dependencies, intelligently prioritize updates, and orchestrate the entire upgrade process removing guesswork, and resulting in a more secure and resilient infrastructure. And, as with other Nutanix solutions, LCM will be able to operate anywhere to manage Nutanix environments globally,” says the firm.

Nutanix Foundation Central is available now as part of Nutanix’s hyperconverged infrastructure offerings and Insight and LCM will join the family as soon as they are ready.
