Rockstar ‘AAA open world title in VR’ game is in development

Video Games Deluxe, which has worked on several projects for Rockstar including L.A. Noire: The V.R. Case Files, has announced a new game by way of LinkedIn.

The developer recently took to the professional social media platform to let readers know about the new untamed title including the fact that it is looking of talent to join the team in Australia.

The announcement is still live here on LinkedIn at the time of writing, and you can also read it in full below:

“Having finished the critically well received L.A.Noire: The V.R. Case Files we are now gearing up for a new project, a AAA open world title in VR for Rockstar. 2020 marks our 7th year of working exclusively for Rockstar in Sydney and we are excited to taking on this ground breaking project.

We have a number of job openings in our Sydney studio including Senior Programmers, Engine Programmer, Designer and Animator. If you are interested in one of these positions or would like two speak to someone who works here about VGD please get in touch,” The LinkedIn post reads.

There has, of course, already been speculation about what the game is since this post was discovered. The easy answer here is yet another port for Grand Theft Auto V, this time in VR. With the 2013 game already planned to launch on the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X, a VR conversion doesn’t seem like a stretch as yet another way to keep making money off of this hit.

With Video Games Deluxe already having done a similar job on L.A. Noire it really does seem like we’ll be playing GTA V in VR some time in the future. Alternatively we may see VR content for Red Dead Redemption 2 in the same vein.

As the post above is sparse with details all we can do now is wait for more information. Rockstar will likely make a big announcement when the game is far enough along, but you can also stalk Video Games Deluxe on LinkedIn since it seems to drop some interesting information there from time to time.
