Recently CD Projekt Red announced that Cyberpunk 2077 would not feature wall running after this mechanic had been shown off in previews multiple times. If you’re missing this very specific feature Shadow Warrior 3 is here to provide it.

Announced just a few hours ago, developer Flying Wild Hog and publisher Devolver Digital, are back again for another instalment in this franchise.

Right now we have a teaser trailer, see below, as well as a Steam page so you can wishlist the game for a release some time in 2021.

As with the previous games fast movement is a big part of the experience and it seems that’s carried over here.

“Flow between nimble movement techniques including air dashes, wall running, double jumps, and the fancy new grappling hook busts your combat and movement options wide open in every battle,” reads a description of the game.

With Doom Eternal also featuring a grappling hook recently – albeit attached to a shotgun – it looks like modern FPS titles are becoming even faster in the movement department.

As for the setting of all the violence here, we know from a press release that Orochi Zilla will return and the events of the game involve “the mask of a dead god, a dragon’s egg, a touch of magic, and enough firepower to tear down the encroaching Shadowlands”.

If you’re not one for these kind of canned reveals you can expect to see actual gameplay for Shadow Warrior 3 at the Devolver Direct livestream on 11th July on Twitch. Devolver Direct is the publisher’s big platform for announcements this year with events like E3 not taking place.

It remains to be seen if this game will be closer to 2013’s Shadow Warrior or 2016’s Shadow Warrior 2 (both are discounted by 75 percent in the Steam Summer Sale). While Shadow Warrior 2 is mostly an overall improvement many disliked the looter shooter elements of that game. We liked these additions but we can understand why some didn’t.
