Applications for Turn.io’s Chat for Impact Accelerator in August now open

As South Africa began coming to grips with the COVID-19 pandemic the National Department of Health and Praekelt.org built a WhatsApp chatbot through which you’re able to access accurate information about COVID-19.

That chatbot was built using Turn.io and now the firm behind that tech wants to help other organisations use chat for good.

As such applications for the Chat for Impact Accelerator which takes place from 5th to 7th August, are now open.

With support from the Mulago Foundation, the accelerator will take participants through the Turn.io product and its capabilities, how to design and launch a chat solution using the WhatsApp Business API and case studies regarding how chat applications have been used in the past.

In addition, participants will be shown how to use features such as location tracking which aids in real-time monitoring and response.

The Chat for Impact Accelerator is open to social impact organisations no matter which sector or vertical they occupy.

“We are thrilled to be launching the Chat for Impact Accelerator as we believe this has the potential to support the launch and sustainability of some of the most effective impact services in the world – during COVID-19 and beyond,” head of data science and learning at Turn.io, Neelke Stadler, said in a statement.

While space at this accelerator is limited Turn.io is looking at host more accelerators in future. In addition to this open accelerator, Turn has said it will host sector-specific accelerators in the Education, Health and Agricultural sectors.

“Turn’s tools help high impact organisations connect, engage, guide and check-in with their clients, patients and customers. The ability to have a two-way conversation opens whole new worlds of impact,” said head of grants and investments at Mulago Foundation, Laura Hattendorf.

To sign up for the Chat for Impact Accelerator head to the Turn.io website.
