Stage 1 and 2 loadshedding planned for Thursday

As loadshedding hits South Africa once again, power cuts are set to ramp up as the day progresses.

Stage 1 loadshedding will begin at 09:00 and run through until 14:00. From 14:00, Stage 2 loadshedding will be in effect until 22:00.

As has been the problem since last week, generation units at power stations have tripped contributing to an already strained system.

While Eskom was able to restore one unit at Tutuka power station on Wednesday afternoon but it appears it’s been a case of one step forward and several steps back at Eskom all week.

We say this because despite one repair, units at Medupi and Tutuka power stations tripped.

The utility also says that demand on Wednesday sat at 33 000MW which was “the highest demand so far this year”.

“While we appreciate the cold weather, Eskom urges the public to assist by switching off heating appliances, geysers and other appliances,” the utility pleaded.

Alternatively the EskomSePush app for Android or iOS smartphones delivers notifications regarding loadshedding directly to your smartphone.
