Webafrica stops emailing invoices for security reasons

Local internet service provider (ISP) Webafrica will stop sending its customers their invoices by email in a bid to increase security and cut down on the possibility of people falling victim to scams and other threats.

“With a rising number in phishing and virus attacks, cybersecurity has never been more important. We are always doing our best to look after your online security. We have thus decided to move all your financial communication to our secure online portal, which means we will no longer send invoices to your email address. You can now access all your invoices, statements and account information in your Customer Zone,” the ISP writes.

The Customer Zone requires logging into your Webafrica account. If you haven’t done that in a while the ISP also points to its password reset page here. You can find both of those by way of the main Webafrica website.

If you’re ever unsure about the authenticity of some communication from Webafrica we always recommend contacting them directly. The company also has this dedicated page about security which covers things like phishing and malware.

Email scams and security breaches are all too common especially in South Africa. Even overseas we just recently saw the massive Twitter breach which has affected a number of high profile people like Bill Gates and Elon Musk.
