New Mutants to feature in Comic-Con@Home, no new delay just yet

New Mutants – a movie that was created in 2017, but has still not been released after numerous delays – has popped its head out of the sand again. Thankfully it’s not to announce another delay, at least not yet.

A panel for the movie will be taking place inside of Comic-Con@Home. This series of online events is the replacement for the venerable San Diego Comic-Con which has been cancelled this year due to the ongoing pandemic.

“in one week, the New Mutants are coming to #ComicConAtHome! tune in on thursday, july 23 at 2pm pt and join Ira Madison III in a special virtual panel with the cast and director Josh Boone,” reads a release for the event.

Whoever wrote that should invest in some capital letters, however.

To satiate those still waiting for the movie a very short “special look” has been released, and it is embedded below.

At less than a minute in length we get to see a lot of the movie including some absolutely terrible dialogue:

“He’s right, it’s magic!” followed by “So am I” and some generic CGI glowing blue eyes. Hopefully they kept the good dialogue for the actual movie.

The last time we spoke about New Mutants was back in May when it got another delay and a new release date of 29th August. Not just that but the people behind the film were still pushing to release it in cinemas.

Will this still happen? Well hopefully the panel will answer that. If we were the betting kind we’d wager that, during the panel, it will be announced that the movie is now available to watch, likely on Disney+, as Disney which now owns 20th Century Studios.

This kind of “surprise, it’s out!” announcement has become more popular in recent years and we can see it working for New Mutants. After all these years of waiting we’re just hoping to watch this movie in whatever form it takes, even if it’s a dud.
