The cat was pet 150 000 times in the Mortal Shell beta

Mortal Shell, the anticipated RPG that borrows heavily from the Souls franchise, has recently wrapped up its open beta and developer Cold Symmetry has shared some interesting figures about it:

  • More than 350 000 beta players
  • More than 5 million views across Twitch and Youtube
  • More than 150 000 cat strokes

“We have been overwhelmed by the response to our beta. Thank you to everyone who jumped in and gave feedback and reports on the game. We can’t wait for everyone to get their hands on Mortal Shell later this year!,” the official Mortal Shell account tweeted out.

For those angered by the amount of people who played versus the lower number of those who pet the cat, it’s likely because they simply missed the prompt to do so. That’s exactly what happened to us, so please forgive us and the 200 000 odd people who did the same.

Unfortunately right now we don’t know if that 150 000-plus number includes players who pet the cat more than once.

We have to imagine that this inclusion was spurred on by the now famous @CanYouPetTheDog Twitter account that has since gone on to encourage developers to include some kind of animal interaction in all games.

Mortal Shell releases on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One later this year. The official release period is Q3, which is between July and September.
