The Huawei Watch GT 2e is your at-home personal trainer

Lockdown has meant a lot of South Africans have been confined to their homes, and while restrictions have been eased in terms of exercising, going to the gym and interacting with your personal trainer is simply not an option currently.

That said, technology can lend a helping hand, and Huawei recently launched its Watch GT 2e locally with that in mind. Designed not only to offer its wearer a range of smart and convenient tools, this latest smartwatch is created so users have a dedicated personal trainer on their wrist.

To that end the company has spent painstaking efforts to ensure that the Watch GT 2e features a range of different sensors to accurately help those working out or training, better monitor their progress.

Workout warrior

These include an accelerometer, gyroscope, geomagnetic sensor, ambient light sensor, air pressure sensor and a capacitive sensor, all of which works together to track the duration, distance, intensity and effectiveness of your daily workouts.

While the Watch GT 2e is well equipped when it comes to sensors, perhaps the most crucial is the optical heart rate sensor that serves up real-time information. This feature is particularly important for those wanting to train at a higher intensity as it precisely measures how the heart is performing and responding to the paces you’re putting it through.

When coupled with specialised measurement tools to track VO2Max and SpO2 levels, aerobic and anaerobic stages, or recovery times, the Watch GT 2e quickly becomes a data-rich wearable resource for professional athletes and novices alike.

For professionals or those wanting to take their training up a few notches, elements like VO2Max and Sp02 become crucial, as it provides the surest way to measure how your body performs when put under lung-busting, lactic acid-building activity.

When you factor in that Huawei has created 15 different professional workout modes for this smartwatch, as well as 85 new custom workout modes, it is clear that the Watch GT 2e is not just for road warriors, with swimming, parkour, skateboarding, rock climbing, rowing and more all catered for.

Once the workout is done though, the Watch GT 2e still boasts some features that set it apart from other devices on the market. Nowhere is this more evident than the battery life on offer, with up to two weeks needed between full charges of this smartwatch.

This is thanks to the combination of the new Kirin A1 wearable chipset and sizeable 455mAh battery powering things. The former is specifically designed to find ways to consume less energy, making this smartwatch a touch smarter than the rest.

Supporting pairing with Android 4.4 and better, or iOS 9.0 and higher devices, the Huawei Watch GT 2e is not pinned down by mobile ecosystem constraints, which is important for users wanting unhindered performance from their fitness-focused smartwatch.

Clearly a level above the other smartwatches and wearables on the market, to find out more about the Huawei Watch GT 2e, or any of the company’s other fitness products, head here.
