Galaxy Note 20 Ultra could be optimised for Project xCloud

On 5th August, Samsung is expected to unveil as many as five devices at its forthcoming Galaxy Unpacked event. One of those five devices should be the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, with numerous leaks and info surfacing about the new flagship smartphone ahead of its official debut.

The latest bit of news centres around Xbox and mobile gaming, with Project xCloud in particular reportedly being in the offing.

This according to WinFuture, which says that the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra could be “highly optimised” for the xCloud gaming platform. It would not be the first time that Samsung has announced something gaming-related when it comes to a Note device, with the Android beta for Fortnite landing on the Galaxy note first a couple of years ago.

As such, Samsung could be trying to position the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra as a high-end mobile gaming device, with streaming Xbox titles via Project xCloud being the end goal.

As The Verge points out, Microsoft and Samsung have been working closer together more recently, with the CEO Satya Nadella appearing on-stage last year at a Galaxy Unpacked event to announce the availability of optimised Office suite apps on the Note series.

Should the announcement happen on 5th August, it should be interesting to see what kind of specifications and performance the Note 20 Ultra will sport.

Previously on “Ultra” devices, the bump in specs has usually been on the camera side of things, but perhaps a larger amount of RAM could also be in the offing. Whether something is planned on the processor side of things, remains to be seen.

Either way, with the Galaxy S20 Ultra yielding a mixed response among reviewers, it looks like Samsung might be trying a different tact with this latest model.
