Following a power alert just after midday Eskom will shift to Stage 2 loadshedding this afternoon.
From 14:00 until 22:00 on Wednesday, Stage 2 loadshedding will be in effect.
The reason for this was simply stated as a “shortage of capacity” on Eskom’s official Twitter account.
#PowerAlert 15 July 2020
We regret that loadshedding Stage 1 will change to Stage 2 from 14:00 until 22:00 due to a shortage of capacity.
— Eskom Hld SOC Ltd (@Eskom_SA) July 15, 2020
Just before this announcement Eskom stated that demand was 2 000MW higher than it had been been on Tuesday. This is despite the utility asking that South Africans use electricity sparingly.
Given the increase in instances of loadshedding at Stage 2 it is highly recommended that you check your schedules. While you may not have been scheduled for loadshedding at Stage 1, you might be at Stage 2.
You can visit our story from last year to find out how to check your loadshedding schedules online. Alternative the EskomSePush app for Android or iOS smartphones gives you push notifications regarding loadshedding.
