Tomorrow’s DeFi Conference will highlight growth of decentralised finance over the past year

As with many conferences and events of late, the DeFi Conference kicks off virtually tomorrow. The day-long event is organised by Bitcoin Events and will focus on the topic of decentralised finance (DeFi).

With much being made of the way decentralised finance is disrupting many industries at the moment, Bitcoin Events says this event will be key for anyone interested in financial inclusion, open finance, adoption and regulation.

The DeFi Conference is expected to play host to a far ranging spectrum of attendees from within the IT industry, including CTOs and CIOs, as well as lawyers and marketing managers, all of whom are looking for greater insights.

In order to tackle this relatively new topic, two tracks have been designed for the conference, along 35 international speakers being brought in to lend their expertise and opinion.

To that end, Bitcoin Events has confirmed speakers such as Jack Lu, founder and DEO of Wanchain, Artur Schaback, COO and co-founder of Paxful, along with Anna Wood, marketing and training executive at Silgonex.

As for some of the other topics that will be a key focus tomorrow, Bitcoin Events highlights the growth and change of DeFi and the number of projects therein over the past year.

According to DeFi tracking website DeFiPrime, there are currently over 100 projects tackling various DeFi solutions. The total value locked in DeFi is now over USD$ 4 billion with a 227% year-on-year increase in ETH locked in DeFi,” explain the organisers in a press release sent to Hypertext.

“Today, DeFi apps clearly demonstrate value and utility and companies are working on improving the visual demonstration of DeFi to enable mass adoption. The ability to borrow funds, take out loans, deposit funds into a savings account, or trade complex financial products, all that without asking anyone for permission or opening an account anywhere, is quickly gaining traction,” it adds.

If you’re interested in attending tomorrow’s DeFi Conference virtually, head here. You can also check out the programme of topics for each of the two tracks, as well as peruse the list of confirmed speakers.
